Sometimes an (un)justified reputation

Iveco has traditionally been a good source of revenue for dealers, but this "reputation" is not always justified, especially when it comes to newer models. Electronics and finishing are definitely areas to pay attention to.

The Stralis name was first introduced in 2002, when the successor of the EuroStar and EuroTech models was launched. Stralis AD was used for long-distance transport there, while the AT and AD models were intended for regional transport and more demanding, heavier distribution load. The second generation arrived in 2006, followed by a major redesign in 2013 and the Stralis Hi-Way model won the Truck of the Year title. These and later models (2016), which come from the Madrid factory, are the most numerous on our market.

Interestingly, the stand-alone versions proved to be more powerful than the tractors. Most of the complaints were about the electronics and the dashboard, because the signal bulbs connected to the gearbox or the engine were still on after the ignition. Fortunately, at least in most cases, they went out after a few minutes without a diagnostic error. Electrical problems in the dashboard were a result of faults in the bodywork, where water from the A-carrier was leaking inside and the condition of the installations had to be checked. Poor finishing is particularly evident in vehicles that change drivers frequently, and knobs or switches that crack or fall out of their bearings are the victims. Exposure to water, as well as gusts of wind, can dislodge the hinges, causing the door to not fit tightly to the frames. Leaks were also reported by drivers in the case of models with retractable sunroofs, while hydraulic pressure drop could sometimes be a problem in the case of the swivel rear axle versions. Last but not least, attention must also be paid to solving the many problems with the injection of AdBlue liquid.

Maintenance is certainly an important prerequisite to make an otherwise well-motorised Iveco Stralis fully justify a more favourable purchase. The wide range of service and spare parts available at Bartog branches can help you do this.
